I made Bak Kua just now. It is not as good as '我来也', but it is good enough for a beginner like me : )
Do you think it is going to be very difficult? If you do, after looking at the recipe and the procedure, you would think that you have paid too much for the market bought Bak Kua all this while....
Ingredients
- 1 kg minced pork
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp 5 spices powder
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp cooking wine (I use Shao Xing)
- 200g sugar
Procedure
- Marinate minced pork for about 1/2 hour.
- Over-turn the baking tray, coat with oil, spread the marinated pork on it thinly(about 5mm or thinner if you like it thin).
- Bake it in the oven at 75-80C with oven door partially open for about 15min (no need to preheat). This is actually a simulation of sun-dry process(sort of).
- Once cool, cut with scissors to desired size.
- Grill them.
Tell me whether it is finger licking good.
